Welcome

BiteMap is a community-engaged program for Illinois to help us prevent mosquito & tick bites – in our own backyards and when exploring new places

Report Ticks

Did you see a tick?

Were you bitten by a tick?

Would you like to help us enrich the vector dataset?

Report Mosquitoes

You can use BiteMap to learn where mosquitoes and ticks have been reported and are active. Our aim is for these maps to serve as a resource to help raise awareness of vectors and vector-borne diseases and help you make an action plan to prevent bites.

Become a Citizen Scientist

Report bite or vector activities around you, help us enrich the BiteMap dataset to get others in the community informed
Join to Monitor Vector Activities
We are tracking the geographic locations of invertebrate vectors, like mosquitoes and ticks, and where these vectors are biting and spreading disease agents that make people sick. This will help us predict where public and physician awareness needs strengthening and enhance our vector surveillance and control efforts.
Help Us Make Decisions
Your community data on mosquito and tick encounters and vector-borne illnesses can help us make decisions. Join in our community-engaged science program by becoming a BiteMap user and easily reporting your experiences with mosquitoes and ticks.
Your Data Privacy Is Protected
We do care about your privacy. We won’t ask for any identifiable private information and ensure anonymity of user reports. We will use all the data you contribute for non-profit purposes, including increasing public awareness and scientific research about mosquitoes and ticks.
